Well, it's been a while! Sorry about that! Just been busy, or concentratedly un-busy, perhaps. Anyway, the days are going quickly and my time here is winding down. This is both sad and happy. I love Germany. I would readily come back next semester, perhaps even more permanently, if I could only bring my stuff with me and kidnap you guys. How about it, guys...colony in Heidelberg? Anyhow.. the weather has been nice, and I've actually done a little bit of travelling, albeit nur within Germany. Guess I should divide this up, but for starters... Remember Schwetzingen
? The tour guide didn't lie... it really is nice in summer!
I'm going to apologise up front for the repetativeness here. Sigh. Also, Photobucket decided to upload them out of order....COMPLETELY out of order. I am annoyed.
So. As we got off of the bus, there was a line of four booths set up....
Selling asparagus. No joke. Just asparagus, and as usual it was the questionable-looking white kind. At the end of the row of asparagus booths was this awesome statue.....
Of an asparagus booth.
So, here's inside. The amphitheater area. Told you these were out of order. Anywho, notice anything different this time? Like.. living plants, for example?
Here are some birds. There are tons of these things on the Neckarwiese. Any idea what they are? Aside from large?
And very trusting?
So here's a fountain....With the statues uncovered!
And with water in it! A fountain with water! Crazy!
Just look at all the fountains!
And here is a heron. He was just sort of hanging out.
This was on a wall in "downtown" Schwetzingen. Keep in mind this is a tiny little place. I wouldn't even call it a city. I lol'd.
And, I liked this picture so much the first time that I took it again! Sorry. Back to the mosque.
This had potential, but it came out kind of crappy.
This one, though, I like. Did I mention that it was warm (as opposed to painfully cold) and not raining most of the time? Spectacular!
So, here it is again..
And I took this picture vertically and horizontally. Can't decide which I like better, but I decided not to subject you poor folk to more than one of them. If you care to see the second, it's in the photobucket. And if you actually do this, make sure to let me know which you prefer.
Alright, so here's the pond.
These photos came out poorly. Guess it was too bright.
So. Haha, back to the entrance.
Again, too bright. I am annoyed.
This is Joel with a questionable looking sculpture. He kept telling me to take pictures of him. >.>
And here is a close-up.
I never stopped being excited about how there were actual plants.
Oh! And look at this! These things are so cool! There's one in the botanic gardens right now!
This place is fantastic for people who are as OCD about symmetrical compositions as I am.
This is Joel again.
What did I tell you? Symmetry!
This picture wasn't as awesome as I was hoping it'd be.
And... another fountain. Maybe it's not my pictures that are repetitive... maybe it's the castle!
Trying to be all artsy... and failing a little.
And there it is! Next time I get a chance I'll be posting a few shots of Trier. Sorry I ran out of steam on the comments, but most of the photos are pretty self-explanitory.
A couple of unrelated things... I've mentioned to at least two of you how remarkably late it stays light here. This was taken at 9:30 at night.
Also, here's two shots of the Neckarwiese, from a couple weeks ago.
Ok, more later (hopefully soon-later)!
